Introduction
This Commission Policy outlines the terms and guidelines under which commissions are applied to transactions conducted through the Nounspace platform and associated app store. Our policy is designed to encourage innovation and support a thriving ecosystem of developers and content creators, while also ensuring a fair and sustainable economic model.
1. Digital Goods and Services
Subject to Commission
Definition: Digital goods and services include any virtual items, in-game currency, premium content, subscriptions, or other digital assets accessed and used within the apps available on the Nounspace platform that do not exist outside of the developer's centralized ecosystem.
- Examples: Purchasing gems in a mobile game, upgrading to a premium app version, or subscribing to a digital streaming service through the app.
- Commission Rate: Transactions for these digital goods and services are subject to a standard commission rate of 30%.
Exempt from Commission
Definition: Digital assets that exist onchain, including any goods or services managed via blockchain technology outside of a single developer’s ecosystem, are exempt from commissions. This policy is intended to encourage developers to utilize blockchain technology to offer their digital goods and services.
- Examples: Buying, selling, or trading of onchain cryptocurrency tokens or NFTs that operate independently of the platform's central infrastructure.
2. Physical Goods and Services
Exempt from Commission
Definition: Transactions involving physical goods and services, where the app acts as a platform or marketplace for physical products or real-world services.
- Examples: Purchasing swag or goods from a Shopify store, booking a ride on Lyft, or ordering food delivery.
- Note: These transactions are exempt from any commission fees, aligning with standard practices across industry platforms to facilitate physical commerce without additional charges through our platform.
3. Reader Apps
Special Consideration
Definition: Reader apps are those that provide access to content or subscriptions previously purchased outside the app environment.
- Examples: Using an e-book reader app to access books bought on a publisher’s website, or streaming music through an app where the subscription was purchased directly from the music service’s site.
- Commission Status: These apps are exempt from the commission as the primary transaction occurs outside of the Nounspace platform, and the app serves merely as a portal to access the content.
